Images of America: From Avalon To Eden, A Postcard Tour of Rockingham County, NC
ISBN 0-7524-0824-0. This is Piper Peters Aheron’s first non-fiction. It is a
collection of vintage images from mill employees turned professional photographers
in the 1900s. It includes photos from the Aheron’s patriarch, a millworker that
moonlighted on weekends. He took snapshots of his peers at work and at play. Shortly
after the book was released, the Town of Stoneville was leveled by a tornado.
This is the only book on the market that records Stoneville as it looked prior to
its devastation. This book also features the story of Avalon and the textile mill
that burned to the ground. Check it out at your local retailer or by contact
