Piper Peters Aheron

Welcome

Before the age of seven, Piper Peters Aheron (pronounced A-hair-on) lived in almost every Southern state east of the Mississippi River. Books seemed friendlier than people, so shy Piper enjoyed reading. To entertain herself, she learned to draw pictures by copying comic books. By third grade, she created a dozen or more stapled clumps of picture books and sold them to classmates for a dime or quarter. She continued learning her craft throughout high school, because she discovered that her hand-made books, a rewarding avenue of self-expression, also allowed her to buy chocolates and goodies.

After college, shy Piper thrived in the noisy, creative communication industries including advertising, broadcasting and public relations. She wrote ad copy, songs and jingles. She worked in television and in radio. She also held staff positions in public schools and eventually, in the U.S. Congress.

She married, relocated to a cabin on the edge of Sumter National Forest in S.C. and started writing fiction and non-fiction in 1996. Her first book, an unpublished novel, took only a year to write. A renowned Southern journalist from Charlotte, NC read it. He promptly introduced her to a publisher and, boom, Piper's world changed forever!

Presently, Piper is the author of 7 non-fictions. Bits and pieces of her work are featured in the compilation North Carolina: Unforgettable Vintage Images of the Tar Heel State (Arcadia. ISBN 0-7385-0749-0. Hardcover). She continues to write for magazines and trades. Her home office is a delightful cottage near Charlotte, NC.

She's a poor gardener, an award-winning artist, a tedious researcher, and an entertaining lecturer. She's still a curious, shy child at heart that savors dark chocolates purchased with her royalty checks.

She feels blessed by God. She hopes you do, too.
